Spring break. It's the week most people spend partying at the beach. What did I decide to do? Sing karaoke. Am I a singer? No. Did I take choir in school? Nope.
I did, however, get up in front of a few people (thank goodness the bar wasn't packed) and sing my best version of "Tearin' Up My Heart" and "Fast Cars and Freedom".
Did I blow anyone away? Ha! Yeah right. I think I was slightly better than the performance in My Best Friend's Wedding. At the very least I was wearing a more fashionable outfit. Thank you Kelly and Nick for cheering me on! I would not have been able to get up there without your encouragement and support.
30-Day Exercise Streak
Speaking of embarrassing events, I also completed a 30-day exercise streak. Although this might not seem like an embarrassing experience, it was also my first time running on a treadmill. I have never been a runner, so I have been reluctant to run on a treadmill because I was terrified that I would trip and fall right off of the machine.
After spending 29 days walking on a treadmill, working out on an elliptical, going on hikes, and completing circuit training workouts, I finally decided to run on the treadmill.
I felt like I was running like Phoebe from Friends. I definitely did not look graceful.
I surprised myself by running for increments of five minutes. Since running a 5K is on my list, I need to do this more often to get in shape. I will definitely be on a first-name basis with the employees of Planet Fitness by the time that happens.
One unexpected skill I gained while working out was reading while walking on a treadmill. I completed five books during my time at the gym. Thank you Janet Evanovich for writing a series that contains 20 books. I still have plenty books left to read during my workouts.
